History 
Cosmo Optics has a long history spanning over 55 years. We view our custom fabrication abilities as artisan skills. Every component is handled with such skill and respect that we view it as an art form. Your project is highly technical and we make sure that every detail is accounted for. This aspect of our business is a part of our history.The company was founded by Hans Peters, one of the very first German opticians to come to the United States in the 1940’s. Mr. Peters came to the US after attending school and learning the optical fabrication trade. After working for several companies across the US, Mr. Peters decided to build his own business in 1957. From that point, Cosmo Optics has seen steady growth, product expansion, and respect throughout the world for the highest quality optical components.
The projects we work on are based in the Photonics Industry. Cosmo Optics has been part of many prototypes for these applications and therefore built a solid capabilities base and services for a multitude of components. Today, we are manufacturing many different shapes, such as spherical, plano, cylindrical, prisms and more. Our size range is from 1.5mm to 1524mm.
Today, the company is still privately-held by one owner in a 22,000 square foot manufacturing building in Albany, NY. Our capabilities are still in line with the vision of Mr. Peters to deliver high quality components. We have adapted to our customers needs to deliver higher volumes at reduced prices. The Cosmo team consists of several levels of service from our newest technicians to Master Opticians with over 40 years of experience.
