Cosmo Optics - Coatings

Cosmo Optics is dedicated to providing the customer with the highest quality product every time without exception. We provide thin-film dielectric coatings for the medical, military, imaging, laser, and instrument industries. We coat all glass types. We also provide coating on all filter glasses and crystals. We routinely coat quartz and sapphire. Cosmo Optics coats all optical configurations in all sizes. We can accommodate parts as large as 8.5″ in diameter and as small as 1.0 mm. We also specialize in the coating of micro-optics and we utilize adjustable rails alleviating the need to fabricate fixtures for different sized parts.

Cosmo Optics has expanded this last year into a 22,000 square foot facility in Albany, NY, where we now manufacture and coat everything under one roof.

Coatings

All of Cosmo Optics coating operations are performed in a clean room environment. Furthermore, the parts for coating are cleaned and fixtured in laminar air flow hoods that provide Class 100 clean room conditions. Cosmo Optics possesses two optical coating systems. A thermal deposition system dedicated to single layer AR coatings and a reactive electron beam coating system with in-situ film reflectance measurement capability. The electron beam system is utilized for mult-layer anti-reflection coatings such as BBAR, V, and HEA thin film coatings.
Magnesium Fluoride Coating. A magnesium fluoride coating is an economical anti-reflection coating that can reduce the reflectance of crown glass by more than a factor of two. It is also widely sued to reduce the reflectance of a flint glass surface by more than a factor of twenty. This AR coating is available in the ultraviolet, the visible and the near infrared portion of the spectrum.
Broadband Anti-Reflection Coating. Our multi-layer broadband anti-reflection coating is a anti-reflection coating designed for more demanding applications. This coating is available for all glass types ranging in index of refraction from 1.46 (fused silica) to 1.86 (LaSFN9). This coating will provide a single surface reflectance less than 0.50% absolute for a wavelength range of more than 200 nm. This AR coating is available in the ultraviolet, the visible and the near infrared portion of the spectrum.
For laser and those applications that do not require the low reflectance bandwidth of the broadband AR, the V-coat is an economical alternative. Cosmo Optics provides a V-coat with a reflectance less than 0.2% at the target wavelength. In addition, our V-coat maintains this reflectance over a bandwidth of more than 70 nm. The V-coat is available in the ultraviolet, the visible and the near infrared portion of the spectrum.
